Dominic O'Regan
Dominic O'Regan is a London based (Hammersmith tube) Headshot and portrait photographer. Photography includes:
- headshots for actors, actresses and performers
- Location portraits for actor websites, personal images and model portfolios
- corporate portraits for company brochures and publicity
To get theses shots the actor and photographer need to have good chemistry and a good working relationship, and the actor needs to be as relaxed as possible - not always easy in front of a still camera.
Dominic works by meeting the actor first for an initial chat. This is initial discussion may be followed by a shoot the same day or the shoot may take place a week or two later. Meetings are usually in a mutually convenient cafe. The chat will include understanding the roles and characters the actor has played and would like to play in the future, their past experiences of headshoots, the preferred location for the shoot and just as importantly, a sense of working together in a more relaxed environment.
When the shoot actually takes place most of the discussion which is essential to a good working relationship and good final headshots has already happened. The headshot session itself is much more informed and relaxed as a result.
Headshot sessions are offered outdoors, in a studio (the home studio is 12 minutes walk from Hammersmith tube or other studios may be used for some shoots), the actors own home or place of work (portable professional lighting and backgrounds are used).
"My vision is to capture an individual's personality and character in a setting that represents them or is meaningful to them. It may be an area they love; their own home, place of work, cafe, theatre or park that they feel reflects them or that they have fond memories of. I always aim to capture not only the person and the background - but also how the person relates to and interacts with the environment around them.
Corporate portraits must show the character, personality and strengths of the person - but they also need to capture another dimension - the face reflecting the values, achievements and aims of the company or organisation.
I want to achieve these aspects in my photography and I hope my images show this".

For portraiture, including images for actors websites and publicity shots, Dominic works by photographing people in their own living and work settings and frequently uses urban and other outdoor scenes as a background.
